The author is discussing going into auto pilot when talking to others that they feel judged by. One comment made is about how they insulted them and the auto pilot makes the insult take longer to be felt. The meaning of the words aren't registered right away. Many people believe this person was white because her skin reflected that but she is light-skinned and black. Many treated her as a white person due to what was seen on the outside. They stereotyped her and called her names when they found out she was colored.

Exhibit "Sanctuary: Design for Belonging" displays this artistic weaponry from floor to ceiling. Also with urban design proposals and local and historical contexts for the global crisis. Images on display include the artwork of trans immigrant artists like Micah Bazant and Rommy. Another poster that became a symbol of the Women's March, "We the People." Other walls include posters of different sorts from an international design competition called "Displaced: Design for Inclusive Cities"
